Barcelona's Puyol amazing claim: Time-wasting part of football

Barcelona captain Carles Puyol has amazingly hit out at the yellow card he received for wasting time during last night's 1-0 victory at Schalke.

Puyol was booked in the 95th minute for time wasting and afterwards barked: "I am absolutely furious with this yellow because I was hoping the ref would blow his whistle for fulltime.

"To waste time is part of football, because when you're in a difficult period during a game, it's a form of cooling things down."

The defender added: "The victory has come at the ideal time for us after everything that has been happening recently."
