Barcelona's 18-year-old forward Giovani dos Santos has emerged as a leading target for Manchester City, according to the player's father Zizinho.
The Mexico international broke into Barca's senior ranks ahead of schedule last season, but this term has seen first team opportunities limited.
Fellow starlet Bojan Krkic has stolen the plaudits this year for his meteoric rise, in a turn of events that has reduced Dos Santos somewhat to the periphery at Camp Nou.
City boss Sven Goran Eriksson is likely to be armed with a healthy transfer kitty in the summer and the capture of Dos Santos would likely sate the appetite of the Eastlands faithful for world class talent.
Whether the player would make the move to England though, remains very much subject to conjecture.
City interest
"There is interest from Manchester City," Zizinho told Mexican newspaper El Universal.
"However, I cannot give more information now as Giovani's agent is the one in charge of all this, it's him who is dealing with negotiations.
"I can't say for sure if Giovani will go to another team. There are still games to play in La Liga and while there are he's only thinking about Barcelona.
"We don't want to get ahead of ourselves, there is interest but first he has to concentrate on Barcelona."
Dos Santos has played 25 times for Barca this season in all competitions, scoring once in a UEFA Champions League game with Stuttgart.
